- Articulate new information on best practices in responding to and caring for grieving children in therapeutic, educational, medical and community settings.
- Implement new tools and skills to support grieving children.
- Identify resources and programs available to grieving children to support referrals and networking.
- Identify strategies to increase access to timely, high-quality and culturally relevant grief support services for grieving children in our region and opportunities to support local advocacy efforts.
- Discuss how clinicians working within the weight of pediatric grief can reduce compassion fatigue and burnout.
- Explain a child life specialist’s role in the psychosocial and emotional care of patients, siblings, and families throughout end-of-life in a pediatric hospital.
- Identify ways palliative care can be helpful to children with terminal illness and their families.
- List four grief reactions common in childhood grief.
